I Can Sew For Miles

J'ai fait 3 sacs gigantesques. Des sacs solides pour transporter des voiles qui font 100kg au moins et qui vont faire le tour du monde avec Thomas.

Dans ma cuisine...

J'ai pas rigolé tous les jours lors de la construction mais j'ai chanté beaucoup et toujours le même refrain des Who dont j'avais modifié les paroles : "I can sew for miles and miles, I can sew for miles and miles, I can sew for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles, Oh Yeah"!

I made 3 humongous bags. Solid bags to carry 200 pounds sails which will go on earth orbit with Thomas.

In my kitchen...

I didn't laugh everyday whilst making them but I sang a lot and always the same Who chorus with modified lyrics : "I can sew for miles and miles, I can sew for miles and miles, I can sew for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles, Oh Yeah"!

Liberty Pucci

Je pense que j'ai trouvé le patron pour la blouse en Liberty. Je pense même que j'ai du lin noir et que je vais faire le pantalon aussi. Je ne suis pas bonne en pantalons, mais au moins je sais que j'aurai un joli chemisier.

Je pense que ça va être très élégant si je réussi le pantalon. 

Une autre toile m'attends...

I think I found just the right top pattern for the Liberty fabric. I even think I have enough black linen to make the pants as well. I am not really good at making pants, but I know I'll have a nice blouse.

I think it's going to be very elegant if I get the pants right.

Too much!

C'est pas un peu too much?

Mr C m'a offert, pour notre 18ème anniversaire de mariage, une autre paire de Nike Liberty (c'est devenu une obsession chez moi!) et j'aimais tellement  l'imprimé Lagos Laurel que j'ai aussi pris une verge (oui oui au Québec un yard, c'est une verge!) du tissu. 

Quand j'ai tout reçu, je me suis quand même demandé si j'ai perdu la tête et si c'est pas un peu trop de Liberty... mais non, je pense qu'une petite jupe droite noire et une petite blouse assortie aux chaussures ça peut le faire pour aller au marché cet été. 

Qu'est-ce que vous en dîtes? Vous connaissez un joli patron de blouse? 

How much is too much?

In celebration of our 18th wedding anniversary, Mr C has given me another pair of Liberty Nikes (they've become quite an obsession around here!) and I loved that Lagos Laurel print so much, I also took a yard of matching fabric.

When it all came in, I wondered if I hadn't lost my sense, if this is too much Liberty, but... no, with a skinny black skirt and a pretty matching blouse, it might work to go to the market.

The Jason Epilogue

Meet Jean-Louis. 

Jean-Louis is a austringer (meaning he hunts with eagles). He is holding a year old Blue Chilean Eagle and modeling his brand new Jason - John G Hardy tweed vest. He is an amazing guy, the kind of person who changes your life when you meet them and Mr C wanted to thank him so I made him a vest.

Pretty good considering I fitted him through Skype. 

If you are a follower of this blog, you know I have been agonizing over the buttonholes, and I am sad to report that I choked. I didn't trust myself to make 7 perfect identical buttonholes.

Jean-Louis has special ordered some pretty hunt buttons for his French Austringer Club and that made me very very nervous, so I corded the buttonholes instead. Cording you say? 

If you've been wondering what's the little thingy in the back and the grooves in the front on your buttonhole foot are for, this is it. It's a cool sewing machine trick which gives some depth and texture to your buttonhole and makes it more durable as well. There is an excellent tutorial here and a PDF there. 

I'll be using this trick again for sure, the result is really neat.
