The Infinite Dress - McCall's 5360 - Pt.2

I might not need a serger after all.

I found some mat 2-way stretch bathing suit fabric for The Infinite Dress and after washing it, I realized it is never ever going to fray and I might be able to sew it with a regular machine, I think a small zigzag might do the trick. I'll research this a little today and run some tests. I also will be glad if you have any tip other than getting a special sewing needle, which I have.

It is such an extraordinary pattern piece, isn't it? (Yes, it's my tape measure!)

I'll have plenty of remnants, I might get into making some matching underwear, a bathing suit maybe? It'll depend on how the sewing goes and how ambitious I get. 

As the fabric matches my couch on the upper left corner, I'll be setting a new elegance standard, matching underwear, dress and decor, I hope someone, somewhere notices the effort.

An while I am at it, on the plane, I'll be asking for the matching seat as well.

The Infinite Dress - McCall's 5360 - 2ème Partie

Je n'ai peut-être pas besoin d'une sujeteuse.

J'ai trouvé un beau tissu élastique mat pour La Robe Infinie et après lavage, j'ai réalisé que ne tissu ne bougerait pas et que je pouvais sans doute le coudre avec une machine normale. Un petit zigzag devrait faire l'affaire. Je vais faire un peu de recherche et quelques tests aujourd'hui. Si vous avez des astuces à partager, à part celle de l'aiguille spéciale tricot, je suis preneuse.

C'est sans aucun doute la pièce de patron la plus étonnante que j'ai vue, c'est mon mètre juste à côté!

Je vais avoir quelques beaux restes et dépendant des résultats, je vais peut-être me faire une culotte ou un maillot.

Comme le tissu est assorti à mon canapé que vous voyez en haut à gauche, je pourrai établir un nouveau jalon d'élégance : sous-vêtement, robe et décor. J'espère qu'on remarquera mes efforts!

I love sewing with friends. 

I love the chitter chatter and the sewing tips and tricks that get passed along. I love the hot tea and the cakes. I'll be doing this with my friend Armelle in a fortnight, so I am cutting a couple of projects for us to sew together. I can't wait.

In the meantime, you can go look at the collaborative work in progress of Annie Collinge and Sarah May which struck a topical chord in me. I would like to tell you that I put that picture up just because I love the print, I do, but I also chose it because it reminds me that some women have a very binding dress code and can't choose what to wear. 

I think about them everyday.

J'adore coudre avec des amies. 

J'adore le bavardage et les échanges de petits trucs de couture. J'adore le thé chaud et les petits gâteaux. C'est ce que je vais faire dans 15 jours avec mon amie Armelle alors je prépare des petits travaux qu'on  fera toutes les deux. J'ai hâte!

Pendant ce temps, vous pouvez aller voir la collaboration entre Annie Collinge et Sarah May qui m'a plu. J'aimerais bien vous dire que c'est parce que j'adore l'imprimé, ce qui est vrai, mais ce travail me rappel que des femmes dans le monde n'ont pas notre chance et subissent des prescriptions vestimentaires drastiques.
Je pense à elles tous les jours.
