I dream of having a serger!

I was reminded that I own the pattern of The Infinite Dress again last weekend, reading NYT's article on convertible clothing, but the truth is, every time I go to my pattern pile, I look at it, waiting for the day I  get a serger. I need to make this for my dream cruise, it's so Love Boat!

It's a pretty amazing bit of pattern making as it only has one pattern piece cut on the fold.

There is even some pretty hysterical (Now remember, I'm doing this without a mirror!) infomercials on how to tie it.

Though Lydia Silvestry was the first to patent it in 1976, there are several examples of convertibles : Donna Karan has an Infinity Dress, Two Birds Bridesmaid make, you guessed it, convertible bridesmaids dresses and I also like Black Coffee Everyonecanbeadesigner set of transformable clothing. But my absolute favorite is Hussein Chalayan, who made this beautiful motorized airplane dress and numerous other transformative clothing which are grounbreaking.

Lets see, we have an airplane dress, a cruise dress, all I need is a pile of books, a bathing suit, a serger and a vacation!

Il y avait un article dans le New York Times le weekend dernier sur les vêtements transformables et ça m'a rappelé que j'ai un patron de la "robe infinie" qui attend que j'aie le bon outil, mais un jour, je vais me la faire, c'est total Croisière s'amuse!

C'est un patron surprenant car il n'a qu'une seule pièce à couper sur la pliure.

Il y a aussi des info-publicités assez hilarantes, "Rappelez-vous, je travaille sans miroir!", sur toutes les manières de l'attacher. 

Bien que  Lydia Silvestry a déposé son brevet en 1976, j'ai trouvé plusieurs exemples de vêtement transformables : Donna Karan a sa robe Infinity, Two Birds Bridesmaid fait des robes pour vos demoiselles d'honneur et j'aime beaucoup les efforts de Black Coffee Everyonecanbeadesigner qui a crée une garde-robe complète. Mon favori de tous les temps en la matière est Hussein Chalayan qui ne cesse de me surpendre. Pour preuve, sa robe avion motorisée qui s'ouvre et se referme.

Nous avons donc, la robe avion, la robe croisière, il ne me manque plus qu'une pile de bouquins, un maillot, une surjeteuse et des vacances!

T-Shirt Refashion

My sister went to see the Thunderbirds and all I got is a thousand t-shirts!

It's the best fitting shirt I ever had so I lifted the pattern minus the deep neckline and used it as the base for the new one. It bunches up a bit under the arm, I'll have to think about that when I refashion another shirt with that pattern, but I am quite happy with it.

How I did I know that, besides the school's name in bright yellow velvety stuff, that it was a French T? Look here, it had darts, on a t-shirt! Only in France!

Carlotta Stermaria is the proud winner of the giveaway and the T was sent to her today. We are all awaiting pictures!

Le T-Shirt Remasterisé

Ma soeur est allé voir les Thunderbirds (la Patrouille de France US) et j'ai reçu mille t-shirts.

C'est un t-shirt qui me va super bien alors j'ai tracé un patron basé dessus en modifiant un peu le décolleté. Ça fait des petits plis en dessous des bras, je corrigerai ça quand j'utiliserai ce patron la prochaine fois. Je suis assez contente du résultat.

Comment savoir, à part le nom de l'école imprimé en velours majuscule sur le devant qu'il s'agit d'un t-shirt français? Il avait des pinces, je n'ai jamais vu ça ailleurs qu'en France!
