Vivian Maier was a Chicago street photographer who's work was found in a box at an estate sale. And looking at her wonderful pictures got me thinking about fit.
You know how we are all in awe when we look at old pictures because the people look so good? I think it's because it predates the mass ready-to-wear market, when the great art of fitting a garment was lost. Clothes were, either home made or store bought, fitted. In every Pop and Mom store, there was a seamstress who could alter the garment for you, there were actual seam allowances in garments.
Now, it's a privilege to get a garment fitted.
Unless you sew.
